Create a the branding, packaging, marketing materials and signage for the Star Wars Legion Project—a project where Disney, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Marvel and Industrial Light & Magic artists reimagine the stormtrooper helmet for Star Wars Day 2014.
Solution
I wanted the logo to communicate the idea that the plain, white stormtrooper helmet could morph into something else completely so I transformed the black letters of LEGION into various colors of the rainbow. Since the logo is so bright and powerful, I kept the rest of the design white and minimal.

Rebrand a dead, dying or defunct brand. Create brand extensions that launch the brand into an entirely different category while remaining true to the brand’s original essence and intent.
Solution
I chose to rebrand Barbasol, a company specializing in shaving cream products for men. Since Barbasol’s original intention was to create comfort for men, I created the new brand to revolve around increasing a man’s confidence and suiting his needs and comfort.

Create a first aid kit containing a minimum of 14 unique pieces. Create your kit as part of an existing brand or a new brand of your making.
Solution
I created my first aid kit under the existing brand Kraken™. The brand is famous for its black spiced rum and marketing campaign about a legendary sea monster. Spiralling off the brand’s marketing concept, I created my products around the needs of a pirate lost at sea, whose ship might be susceptible to a kraken attack.

Create an infographic that showcases information about a topic of your choosing. Explore how your topic impacts the world both positively and negatively; then, make connections between its various impacts.
Solution
I focused on the environmental, economical, political, cultural, personal and educational significance of food packaging and marketing. I presented the information in a large circular shape so that the reader could easily see how each insight connects across the board. Numbers were assigned to each connection and additional information was located at the bottom of the poster next to each correlating number.
Solution
The topic I chose to research was food production in the United States. The issues within the industry are numerous and diverse, but I decided to focus on the problems surrounding food marketing and packaging. I explored confusing labelling terminology, misleading imagery, deceptive packaging and marketing strategies. Some of the proposed solutions include a redesign of the nutrition facts label and a truth-based line of food packaging.

Create a film festival honoring the director of your choice. Uncover a thematic thread throughout your director’s films and design all elements around that concept.
Solution
The director I chose was John Curran. His movies, like The Painted Veil, Stone or The Killer Inside Me, all seemed to revolve around infidelity and its inevitable consequences. I created ink smears and took photographs of dreary places and silhouettes to create a sinister mood. Many of the items I created spoke to the theme of infidelity (e.g., the festival pass was a hotel key and the schedule was a Do Not Disturb hotel door hanger).

Create a book that documents one event or moment in your life. Tell the story using experimental typography and original photography.

I decided to document an upcoming trip to my hometown, Scottsdale, Arizona. I took photographs near my home and high school, and applied various effects and frames to create a subtle grunge look. I used lyrics from a local Phoenix band, The Format, to create textures on my photographs. Overall the book discusses what my life was like in high school and how things have changed since I left.
